Caring Team for Children

The Caring Team for Children works to make a difference in the lives of grieving children, increasing community awareness for the Highmark Caring Place. The Caring Team includes hundreds of schools, businesses and community partners that work together to make a difference in the lives of grieving children and their families.

Students, teachers, superintendents, guidance counselors, principals and school nurses have played an integral part in the Caring Team's success by referring families to the Highmark Caring Place who can benefit from our grief support services, educational presentations and resources.

Benefits of the Caring Team

• Children, adolescents and their families who are grieving the death of a loved one can attend the Highmark Caring Place at no cost.
• The Caring Team provides a meaningful way for schools to help children and families in their own districts and communities.
• Teachers and administrators can encourage students to experience teamwork and help others.
• Highmark Blue Shield matches all donations dollar for dollar so that twice as many children can be helped.
• Caring Team schools can tour the Caring Place facilities to learn about our services.
• School personnel can access written educational resources about the needs of grieving children.
