Locations

There are four Highmark Caring Place facilities in western and central Pennsylvania. The first facility was built in Pittsburgh in 1997. A facility serving the Erie region followed in 2001, another in Harrisburg opened in 2003, and the most recent facility serving the Warrendale/Cranberry region was built in 2009.

Each of the Caring Place programs follow the same model — a child-based, family-centered program of peer support for grieving children.

In addition to peer support groups, the Caring Place also provides:

  • To families:
    • Referral services
    • Adult telephone support
    • Educational programs
  • To schools and other professionals in the community who work with children:
    • Consultation services
    • Educational presentations
    • Resources
