Group Puzzle

Suggested Age Group(s): Middle, Teen, Adult

Purpose: To allow groups to express their feelings about their loss utilizing a physical form of expression.

Task/need: Develop a new self-identity based on life without the person who died

Activity Setup Ideas: Invite group members to begin working on a large community puzzle. Challenge them to finish it by the last night of their group.

Materials: Puzzle

Description: Set up a puzzle in a group room or forum for large group. Invite families to work on the puzzle as they have free time during their group nights. They can contribute one piece or a lot of pieces.

As a variation of the activity, you can use a children's puzzle and hide pieces throughout the Caring Place. Challenge the children to find the pieces and build the puzzle.

Activity Wrap Up Ideas: At the end of the group, the puzzle can be referenced as a symbol of their group. they came together as fragmented pieces, not knowing each other, and together through the weeks became one community together through their grief.
