Clothespin Activity

Purpose: Create an activity that kids can do to display their loss.

Task/need: Acknowledge the reality of the death

Activity Setup Ideas: Kids decorate the paper heart and clothespin. Glue heart to clothespin. Add colorful ribbons. (See an example.)

Materials:

  • Clip type clothespins
  • Markers
  • Glue
  • Paper heart
  • Ribbon

Description: Kids can decorate a paper heart and add the name of their loved one or anyone in their life they love. Then glue the heart to the clothespin. Color the clothespin and add strings of ribbon. The children can take home their heart clothespin and hang it up.

Activity Wrap Up Ideas: Ask children who is on their heart. Where will they hang it or keep it?
