Activity Setup Ideas:

Materials:

  • Colored dice with a different feeling written on each side
  • If using plain colored dice, color code paper cards with feelings written on them to correspond to the dice roll or write a different feeling on each side of a plain dice
  • Regular dice may be used with feelings coded by number

Description:

  • Variation 1: One group member at a time takes turns rolling the emotion dice. She/he can choose which of the two feelings to share. Notice there is one side of the die that gives the option of a free choice. Group members share a time they experienced that feeling.
  • Variation 2: Group members take turns rolling the dice. They choose one of the feelings to act out. They share the last time they had that feeling and a situation that triggers that feeling for them. Group members share what they did to cope with the feelings in that situation.

Activity Wrap Up Ideas:

  • Ask the children what it was like to share all of their feelings.
  • Thank them for sharing.
