Lighthouse

Suggested Age Group(s): Middle, Teen

Purpose: To have the group members think about whom they have as part of their support system

Task/need: Continued support

Activity Setup Ideas: Talk with the group about who in their lives provides support and guidance for them during difficult times.

Materials:

  • Paper
  • Crayons/markers/colored pencils/paint

Description: Visualization: You are lost at sea on a stormy night. You see a glimmer of light leading you to land. If you row hard, you can make it. Someone waits for you with a warm meal, dry clothes, and a place to rest.

Draw, color, or paint an image of a lighthouse as a source of guidance in your life. Add words to represent the guidance in life (i.e., family, hope, love).

Activity Wrap Up Ideas: Invite the group to share the picture of their lighthouse and discuss who in life is their 'Lighthouse', their support during the 'storm', their guidance during hard times.
