Good-Bye Banner
Suggested Group(s): Young, Middle & Teen
Purpose: To review the session and find a way to say goodbye
Task/need: Group building, group structure
Activity Setup Ideas:
- Indicate that this will be the last meeting of the group and that you'd like to take a few minutes to think back on the ten (or eight) meetings that you have shared as a group.
- Ask the children to comment on what they liked or found valuable about their time at the Caring Place.
Materials:
- A piece of approximately 6 feet in length of butcher paper
- Markers
Description: Ask everyone to write his/her name and last words for the group on the banner. Those last words can include messages to the group, wisdom gained from the group, things they will miss, etc. Allow some time for children to also decorate their banner before reviewing the entire banner with the group.
Activity Wrap Up Ideas:
- Ask if anybody would like to read what he/she wrote and discuss as he/she wishes
- Allow the banner to stay in the room, or cut pieces for members to take home.
